A small piece of the original Golden Gate Bridge steel is enclosed in a clear round case surrounded by a description card. The card comes with a festive red ribbon... Perfect for hanging on the Christmas tree! Also includes a small magnet on the back of the plastic round case allowing you to attach the piece on a magnet board or refridgerator.
The piece of original Golden Gate Bridge steel comes from the same sections of historic handrail material that we craft our larger furniture designs from. Placed on the bridge during its construction in the 1930s, these original sections of handrail were removed in 1993 due to weathering and fatigue. This historic American steel, produced by Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Pennsylvania, was exposed to the wind and salt air of the Golden Gate for 56 years, leaving a characteristic weathering in its patina finish.
Each Golden Gate Bridge Souvenir Steel Piece includes a 1.0” diameter clear round case with an approximate 0.25" to 0.5” piece of rough-cut steel inside. The piece has been tumbled to smooth any sharp edges, then given a fresh coat of International Orange – the official color of San Francisco’s most distinctive bridge. Shape and size varies.
